Community Seed ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Ritual Collaboration platform (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Platform.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Full name
• Email address
• Phone number (optional, for SMS notifications)
• Password (stored securely using industry-standard hashing)
• Timezone preference

Platform Usage Information

When you use the Platform, we collect:

• Project information (titles, descriptions, dates)
• Messages and discussions you post
• Files and links you upload or share
• Events you create or attend
• Budget and checklist items you add
• Notification preferences

Technical Information

For security and compliance purposes, we automatically log:

• IP addresses
• Browser type and version
• Login timestamps
• Phone number opt-in/opt-out actions and timestamps

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only for the following purposes:

• Platform Operation: To provide and maintain the ritual collaboration features, including project management, messaging, file sharing, and event coordination.
• Notifications: To send you email and/or SMS notifications about activity in your projects, based on your preferences. See our SMS Opt-In Policy for details.
• Account Management: To manage your account, authenticate your login, and provide password reset functionality.
• Security: To detect and prevent unauthorized access, abuse, or security threats to the Platform.
• Compliance: To maintain logs required for SMS compliance (A2P 10DLC) and to respond to legal requests if required.

We do NOT use your information for:

• Marketing or promotional purposes
• Selling or sharing with third parties
• Advertising or analytics
• Any purpose other than operating the Platform for Community Seed members

3. SMS Text Messaging

How SMS Works

SMS notifications are completely optional. To receive SMS notifications, you must:

1. Enter your phone number in your Profile settings
2. Select "SMS Only" or "Both Email & SMS" as your notification method
3. Click "Save Profile" to confirm
4. Send START from your mobile device to confirm opt-in

Only after completing all four steps will you begin receiving SMS notifications.

Message Types & Frequency

SMS messages notify you about project activity: new messages, files, events, or members. Frequency varies based on your settings and project activity (typically 2-5 messages per day for active users). You control notification frequency from every 5 minutes to daily.

Opt-Out & Support

You can stop SMS notifications at any time by:

• Replying STOP to any message (immediate unsubscribe)
• Changing your Profile settings to "Email Only"
• Removing your phone number from your Profile

Reply HELP to any message for support information.

SMS Provider & Charges

SMS messages are delivered via Twilio, our service provider. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier. We do not charge for SMS notifications.

4. Information Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or any other purposes, except as described below:

Service Providers

We use the following service providers solely to operate the Platform:

• Twilio: To send SMS notifications (only for users who opt in)
• Email provider: To send email notifications

These providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.

Within Community Seed

Your information is shared with other Community Seed members only as necessary for collaboration:

• Your name and email are visible to members of projects you join
• Your messages, files, and contributions are visible to project members
• Your phone number is never displayed to other users

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Community Seed, our members, or others.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information:

• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage
• Access to the Platform requires authentication
• Administrative functions are restricted to authorized administrators
• SMS opt-in/opt-out actions are logged for compliance
• The Platform runs on secured servers with regular security updates

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal information from active systems, though some information may be retained in backups for a limited period or as required for legal compliance.

SMS opt-in logs are retained indefinitely for regulatory compliance purposes.

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your information:

• Access: You can view and update your information through your Profile page.
• Correction: You can correct or update your name, email, phone number, and preferences at any time.
• Deletion: You can request deletion of your account by contacting us. Note that some information may need to be retained for compliance purposes.
• Opt-Out: You can opt out of SMS or email notifications at any time through your Profile settings or by replying STOP to SMS messages.
• Data Export: You can request a copy of your data by contacting us.

8. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
